Chrome audio routing checklist: before and after using Audio Router

Use this checklist to decide where Audio Router belongs in your multi-tab Chrome audio setup.

Before you reach for system settings

A per-tab audio router should remove the manual step of changing your OS output device every time you want a tab on a different speaker. Before installing anything, write down the repeated audio-switching action that annoys you.

For Chrome, that usually means a meeting tab that should always go to headphones while a music tab stays on speakers.

The lightweight checklist

Run through these checks during your first few sessions with Audio Router. If the answers are mostly yes, the workflow is worth keeping.

  • Can you route a tab to a device in one click from the popup?
  • Does the extension remember the device when you reopen the tab?
  • Can you see and manage all active routes in one panel?
  • Do device profiles let you switch whole setups (e.g. meeting vs. focus) instantly?

What to measure

Track the number of times you stop reaching for system audio settings, not just the number of clicks. Good per-tab routing usually feels quieter: fewer device flips, fewer muted-the-wrong-tab moments, and fewer context switches.
